The Sport Fishing Tournament this year will host around 40 boats to compete for big prizes taking place at Riviera Nayarit.
The 10th International Bahía de Banderas Marlin and Tuna Sport Fishing Tournament will take place from July 14-16, 2016 hosted by an all inclusive hotel in Nuevo Vallarta and, of course, the magnificent waters of the Bahía de Banderas. The President of the Bahía de Banderas Fishing Club, David Zaragoza mentioned that “the event has grown year after year” because “it used to be only a one-day event and this year it last two full days, thanks to the huge demand it has had”. The Riviera Nayarit CVB supported the event with the entire promotional campaign.
The maritime infrastructure, the secure conditions in the bay area and the excellent shoal that’s constantly available for those who are truly into sport fishing are big attractions for the participants. There are recorded captures of Marlin weighing over 300 kilos, which places the Riviera Nayarit at the same level as top sport fishing destinations in the world.
“All fishermen were invited to participate (…) there is excellent fishing equipment for rent and well-seasoned crew members available; those who don’t have a boat can come here and find plenty of good options”, said David Zaragoza.
This year the registration cost per team is MX$12,000 and up to four people per boat will be able to join to the tournament. Besides Marlin and Tuna, there’s also a category for Dorado.
The event will be officially inaugurated on July 15th. On that day, the reception and the weighing and measuring of catches will take place between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. July 16th will be similar, except for the award and closing ceremonies, which will take place a little after 6 p.m.
